We have had quite a few windstorms this Winter. Part of my fence blew down in the last storm. I was lucky that I did not lose trees or power. A lot of people were not as fortunate. I think you always need to be prepared for a power outage. I have lived through 2 major ice storms. During the one storm, I was without power for 9 long days. The next time that happens, I am checking into a hotel!
There are products that will help conserve heat when you need it the most. Picket Fence sells Solar Curtains, Blackout Liners, Drapes and Door/Window Draft Guards that insulate and guard against heat loss. They also carry a lot of useful Fireplace accessories. Sadly, my fireplace is decorative only. I wish it was real. There is something so cozy about having a real fireplace and chimney.
