Oh, to be organized…

It’s too cold up north to work outside, so I have been focusing my attention on getting organized inside. I am starting in my basement and working my way upstairs, floor by floor. I found many great organizing helpers at www.shoppicketfence.com. For instance, I use the Jumbo Yellow Super Storage Bags to keep my Xmas tree dry and dust free. These bags are also great for storing bigger items like mattresses. Then, since my basement tends to flood time to time, I bought the Hi & Dri Storage Platform. So, as you’re decorating for the holidays, why not neaten and clean at the same time. End 2007 more organized than ever!

Until next time… Ann 🙂

Water Woes

When I was in the market for a home, I had a few must-haves on my list. I wanted thermopane windows, a second bathroom and a basement. I was surprised at the number of home without basements. I finally found one. The only problem I have had with having a basement is occasional water seeping in. I had a real issue with this when my neighbors dismantled their temporary swimming pool and all the water from it came flooding in to MY basement. 😦 Oh how I wish I had the Compact Portable Dryer from Picket Fence at the time. This portable Dryer would have really come in handy. It can also be used to reduce paint drying time.

Wonderful Wainscot “Wallpaper”

I’m not the most handy person when it comes to home improvement activities. Painting is not my thing, putting together those “do it yourself” furniture kits is beyond me and I don’t even know where to find the faucet handles in my basement that control my outdoor water supply. Yet despite these shortcomings, I am confident that I can put up “wainscot” in my powder room. I love the look of wainscot, but the real thing can be expensive and hard to install. I found this special beadboard heavy duty wallpaper from England that is easy to put up. I just know it is going to look fantastic. You can even paint it!

The First Snow Of The Season

We had our first snow yesterday. No accumulation, but it was a reminder that shoveling and challenging driving days are ahead. This year I am going to be prepared. I bought the Ice Breaker Mats to make my outdoor steps safer, the Snow Scoop to wheel the snow away and the Snow Broom to just push the snow off my car. If you type “winter” in the search box at shoppicketfence.com you’ll find lots of handy winter helpers. In the meantime, stay warm and embrace the season!
